Thomas Jefferson Miller, 90, passed away on September 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. 

Thomas was born March 1, 1934, to Fred and Minerva (Prater) Miller in Magoffin County, Kentucky. He moved to Indiana then Parma, Michigan before settling in Homer. On January 31, 1953, Thomas and Minnie May were married in J ackson, Michigan. 

Thomas worked as a mechanic for Corning Glass Works and Hayes-Albion. In his free time, Thomas tended to his farm where he raised crops and animals. An outdoorsy guy, Thomas loved to take rides on his tractor or cut up a pile of wood. He had still been splitting wood at 90. 

Thomas and Minnie belonged to Fellowship Bible Church in Albion, Michigan. 

Thomas was a loving “family man” and hardworking husband, father, grandfather, great and great-great-grandfather. 

Thomas is survived by his wife of 71 years Minnie; children Ruth Hoyt, Joyce (Randy) Payne, Shirley (Russell) Wilson, and Vickie (Doug) Skelly; 14 grandchildren: Amy Clayson, Leah Hiltz, James Miller, Kenneth (Trish) Hoyt Jr., David (Sharee) Hoyt, Elizabeth (Scott) Linabury, Charlene (Damaso) Lebron, Nathan Payne, Jessica (Ron) Tompkins, Nicole (Joe) Southworth, Daniel Wilson, Robyn (Jon) Avery, Edward (Anna) Skelly, and Scott (Nichole) Skelly; 44 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Cathy Miller; sisters Glenna Elkins and Barbara Bodner; brothers Washington Miller, Willard Miller, and Dallis Miller; sister-in-law Doris Miller and Dorothy Wheeler; brother-in-law Paul May; and special family friends Elaine Miller, Jennifer Benson & family, Kara Lowder & family, and Brandon Miller & family. 

He was preceded in death by his son Sam Miller; son-in-law Kenneth Hoyt; sisters Kathleen Litton, Josephine Hoyt, and Janice Williams; brothers Willis Miller and Charles Miller. 

Visitation will take place Thursday September 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Kempf’s of Homer, 303 S. Hillsdale Street, Homer, Michigan 49245. Funeral services will be the following day Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Kempf’s of Homer with Pastor Jim Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer, Michigan.
