Phyllis J. Sundberg

Phyllis Jean Sundberg, 85, of Marshall, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at her home.

Mrs. Sundberg was born on January 2, 1939, in Litchfield, Michigan to Charles and Evelyn (Mosher) Lindsey. On February 19, 1954, she married Dewey Lee Sundberg in Kentucky. He preceded her death on September 18, 2003.

Mrs. Sundberg was a lifelong resident of the Marshall area. She worked most of her life doing one of her favorite hobbies - cooking, providing catering to gatherings, Olivet Schools Food Service, Olivet College Food Service, and a few local restaurants in Marshall. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful gardens, completing her daily word search puzzles, crocheting beautiful blankets for family members and friends, cooking and baking homemade goodies for her family, and mushroom hunting with her family & friends. Phyllis and Dewey were long time members of the Marshall Moose Lodge. But above all else, she especially enjoyed traveling to Northern Michigan and going to garage sales and antiquing along the way with Dewey, and spending time with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Carla) Sundberg of Marshall and Kevin (Cathy) Sundberg of Marshall; daughter-in-law, Diane Sundberg of Lewiston; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Charles Lindsey of Streetsboro, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Junior Sundberg of Battle Creek, John Sundberg of Lewiston, and Keith Sundberg of Marshall; granddaughter, Sadie Jane Sundberg of Marshall; sisters, Joyce McPherson and Helen Woods; as well as brothers, Ted, Russell, and Richard Lindsey.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall, MI 49068 on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 11:00AM - 12:00PM followed by a graveside service at Oakridge Cemetery, 614 Homer Road, Marshall, MI 49068. Grandson, Mark Sundberg officiating.
