David L. Nelson

David L. Nelson, 84, of Marshall, passed away on November 9, 2023, at Reflection Memory Care of Battle Creek. 


He was born on June 25, 1939, to his stepfather, Arthur W. and Dorothy M. (Nelson) Sexton in Marshall, MI. David married Margaret A Budd on May 15, 1959, in Marshall. He owned and operated Dave’s Auto Body for 42 years, retiring in 2005. 


He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Southern Michigan Street Rod Association and the Marshall Jaycees. David was also involved with the Boy Scouts in Marshall, Marengo Township Zoning Board, and the Marshall Exchange Club. 


David is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Lee Nelson of Battle Creek; daughters, Alison Nelson of Marshall, and Teresa Nelson of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Jocelyn (Joshua) Wilder, Derek (Erin) Nelson, Jeremy Nelson; great-grandchildren, Cheznie, Gauge, Brylee, Braxton, Harrison, Allie, Carson, and Carter. 


He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arthur W. Sexton Jr.; daughter-in-law, Leslie Nelson. 


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 101 E Mansion Street, Marshall, Michigan 49068 with Deacon Thom McPherson officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Garden at Trinity Episcopal Church.


Memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation or Trinity Episcopal Church.
