Connie Ann Mead

July 3, 1951 — August 21, 2024

Marshall

Connie Ann Hurd-Mead, 73, of Marshall, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 3, 1951, in Corbin, Kentucky to James and Ruby (Golden) Hurd.

Connie was raised along with her brother Danny in Melvindale, Michigan. In middle school she met a group of girls who became known as the “Burnettes.” These women meant the world to her and were lifelong friends. Connie made sure that dancing was possible at all times, and she didn’t mind being known as the bad influence of the group.

After graduating Melvindale High School in 1969, Connie attended Ferris State University where she met her former husband, Doug Mead. She then lived in Springport, Michigan where she had two beautiful babies before moving her family to Marshall. It was her mission in life to be a mother. She savored every moment with her children, cared for their every need, and fought tooth and nail to ensure their happiness. Connie worked for the Calhoun County Courts as a court recorder for most of her adult life. This is where she met the love of her life, Chuck. Known as her boyfriend for over 30 years, Chuck was a loving and devoted partner who was a constant companion of support and strength.

All that knew Connie knew that she loved hard and laughed hard. She routinely measured life’s moments by the amount of laughs she shared with friends and family. Laughter was her magic. Connie was the life of the party and a true force. She cherished being Mimi to her two granddaughters, traveling with her dearest friends to places around the world, and spending time with her precious dog Bella.

Connie is survived by her boyfriend Charles Curren, her son Ryan (Emily) Mead of Marshall, two granddaughters Addison and Zoey Mead, her niece Danielle (Robert) Wellman of Flat Rock, Michigan, two great nieces Sophia and Hannah Wellman, special friends Barbara (Ronnie) Morris of Grosse Ile, Michigan, and Kathy (Chuck) Walburn of Medina, Ohio.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her daughter Chelsea.

Friends may gather to celebrate the life of Connie on Wednesday, August 28th from 5pm-8pm at Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services, 723 US Hwy 27 N, Marshall.
