Carolyn Swan, 87, of Marshall died on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at MediLodge of Marshall following a long illness.
Carolyn was born on June 11, 1931 in Floyd County Kentucky to Johnny and Lillie (Prater) Shepherd. She married Francis Seedorff on April 5, 1952, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1970.
Carolyn worked as a cook for many years at different restaurants spending many years at the Hill Crest in Marshall. She also took care of her family not only raising her eight children, but she also took care of five nieces and nephews as her own children. Family was very important to Carolyn, and she treasured time caring for her family and countless others.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Peggy) Seedorff of Albion, Sue (Bubby) Gibson of Tram, KY, Peggie (Robert) Swan of Albion, Debbie Castle of Olivet, Jerry Seedorff of Sarasota, FL, Larry Seedorff of Marshall, Michael Seedorff of Marshall and Beverly (Daniel) Bullock of Olivet; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings; Easter Bartley and Bill Shepherd; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings; Esther Shepherd, Martin, Lonny, Lenny, Henry, Bobby, and Frank Shepherd; 2 great-grandchildren and three former husbands.
Family will gather with friends on Thursday October 25, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services 723 US 27 North Marshall. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 1:00pm on Friday October 26, 2018 at the Marshall Chapel of the Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services with Jacob Washburn officiating. Interment will follow at Fitchberg Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Calhoun County Food Bank.
