Betty Ellen Veatch, 96, of Homer, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at her home surrounded by many of her loving family. She leaves behind a glowing legacy of love, compassion and selflessness that will always be remembered by her family, friends and everyone who knew her.
Betty was born October 20, 1927, in Mason, Illinois, to Homer and Freda (Flick) Martin. Betty graduated from high school in Mason, Illinois. After meeting the love of her life, William "Hank" Veatch, Hank and Betty were married on October 23, 1947. The oil well boom brought Hank and Betty to Homer in 1960, where they decided to remain and settle down. Betty was a loving wife and mother and was actively involved in many groups in Homer, including the VFW, Monday Club and others. After Hank's retirement, Betty and Hank spent several winters in Texas, making many new friends and memories.
Survivors include: twin sons, Sam (Cindy) Veatch of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Dan (Connie) Veatch of Albion; grandchildren, Tricia Veatch, Thomas (Lia) Veatch, Travis (Ellen) Veatch, and Jenny (Jason) Johnston; great-grandchildren, Tanner Dean, Brandon, Brooke, Braxton, Ivy, Jordon, Ava, and Atalee; great-great-granddaughter, Melody; and other special family members Keith (Mary) Veatch, Robert Veatch, John (Karen) Edwards, special family friend, Sherry Hawkey, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was predeceased by her parents and Hank, and also by her four sisters, Dorothy, Edna, Eva and Mary.
Betty's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness and care will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Graveside services will be at the Fairview Cemetery, Homer, Michigan, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:00 P.M.
Memorials are suggested to Oaklawn Hospice.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Kempf Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
