Alex Bruce Green

Alex Bruce Green, 38, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on October 4, 2024 in Homer, Michigan.

He was born on November 12, 1985 in Coldwater, Michigan the youngest child of Burdette and Ann (Heaton) Green. As a child, he spent time playing with his older siblings on the family farm, hunting, and fishing, and taking an annual family trip to the Upper Peninsula. He graduated from Homer High School in 2004.

While in high school he began working part time at Barton Farm Company. After graduating he decided to stay full time and learned to do every job on the farm. His patience, kindness, and steady hand made him a big part of the farm family. While working on the farm he was introduced to his wife Samantha (Barton) Green, and they were married on October 7, 2017.

Alex was a dedicated husband. He saw Samantha as his best friend, and along with their dog, Spot, they had many adventures together- camping, traveling across the Upper Peninsula on various trips, driving to North Dakota to buy Alex’s dream pick-up truck, and hunting and fishing in Northern Saskatchewan. At home, Alex worked to restore their old farmhouse, plant beautiful gardens, do woodworking projects, and he enjoyed cutting wood for heating.

He also was an avid hunter, filling the freezer each fall. He preferred to bow hunt, and even was able to get a bear with his bow on one of the many trips north. He never harvested an animal that he wouldn’t eat, so he also learned to clean, can and store his game. He enjoyed spending time outside, cooking over an open fire, and being with his family and friends. 

Alex is survived by his wife, Samantha, his parents, Burdette and Ann Green, siblings Chancey (Katrina Petredean-Green) Green, Jarvis Green, Casey (Kami) Green, Lanore (Darrell) Wisz, in-laws, Bruce and Roxanne Barton and Rebecca (Mike) Davis, and nieces and nephews, Cecilia and Eva Petredean-Green, Hayden and Brylie Green, Porter and Carissa Wisz, and Jack and Wade Davis.
